The Mist-Lining workshop at the Museu da Misericórdia do Porto (MMIPO) starts tomorrow, and Art Conservation Education is really looking forward to it. From 26th to 28th March, participants will be diving into this innovative conservation technique.
The workshop, led by me (Kate Seymour, Art Conservation Education's founder) and assisted by Carlota Vieira, is for art conservators, restorers, and anyone interested in learning more about Mist-Lining and how it helps preserve canvas paintings.
What We’ll Be Doing
The workshop will be spread across three days:
Day 1: Theory – 26th March
On the first day, we’ll cover the theory behind the Mist-Lining technique. This includes understanding its history, how it’s used, and the materials and tools involved. We’ll have presentations and discussions to give everyone a solid foundation for the next two days of hands-on work.
Days 2 & 3: Practice – 27th & 28th March
The second and third days will be all about practice. We’ll work in the MMIPO studios, where participants can apply the Mist-Lining technique with guidance from us. It’s a great opportunity to build your confidence and skills with a hands-on approach.
Why MMIPO Studios?
The MMIPO studios provide a great setting for this workshop. With excellent facilities and a space dedicated to conservation, it’s the perfect place to learn and practice.
Looking Forward to Meeting Participants from All Over the World
I’m excited to meet the registered participants who will be joining us from all over the world. This workshop is a great opportunity to not only learn a new conservation technique but also connect with professionals from different backgrounds and cultures. It’s an exciting chance to expand your skills, share experiences, and gain hands-on knowledge that can help you grow in your practice.
See you tomorrow in Porto!
