✨ What an incredible day! ✨
The Conservation Matters in the North conference on Friday 13th December 2024 at Bolton Museum was a huge success!
This year’s theme, “I Can Do That! Transferrable Skills in Conservation,” brought together professionals, students, and volunteers to explore the vital skills conservators need and the unique contributions we make to society.
The program featured thought-provoking talks from an inspiring lineup of speakers, including Kate Seymour, Adam Salisbury, Amanda Holmes, Michael Bowes, Ian Trumble, Lucie Mascord ACR, and Richard Hawkes. Their insights into cross-disciplinary skills and shared experiences left us all motivated and brimming with new ideas.
Event Highlights:
• Engaging talks that sparked insightful conversations.
• Wonderful networking opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals.
• Celebrating conservation achievements in the North.
• And yes… plenty of delicious cake! 🎂
A big thank you to the supporters: Museum Development North, Tru Vue, Historyonics, and Bolton Library & Museum Services, and to the organizers Irit Narkiss, Pierrette Squires and Christiaan for making this event possible.
The key discussions this year asked:
• What skills do conservators need?
• What skills do conservators contribute to society?
If you couldn’t join us, we hope to see you at next year’s conference. This annual event is a must for anyone passionate about Museum Conservation in the North of England.
